About the Role:

This position is responsible for ensuring the mechanical workshop operates safely, efficiently and within allocated resources and is equipped to meet the requirements of the department's function.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Preparation and inspection of finished work
• Accurately interpreting numbers, technical details, and specifications to determine suitable materials, methods, sequences of operations, and machine settings
• Understand the importance of quality to the business and demonstrate attention to detail
• Diagnosing faults and performing operational maintenance of machines, and overhauling and repairing mechanical parts
• Setting guides and other controls on machining tools, setting up prescribed cutting and shaping tools and dies in machines.

To be considered for this position you MUST have:

•  Mechanical Engineering qualification with minimum 5 years’ experience
• A lateral approach to problem solving; and ability to make logical and well-reasoned decisions
• Enhanced specialised trade skills and knowledge (particularly in Fitting and Turning, Toolmaking, Machining, Fabrication etc.), and a demonstrated wide understanding of engineering concepts
• High quality fabricating skills (e.g. assembly, precision work and fine tolerances etc.)
• Demonstrated ability to employ technical expertise in a variety of applications and with a wide range of materials (e.g. ferrous, non-ferrous, steel, etc.)
• Well-developed verbal and written communication skills
• Extrusion equipment knowledge
• Experience within a similar sized manufacturing facility.
