  • Salary is $95,000 to $98,000 (Plus Super) depending on skills and experience
  • Located at Smithfield, NSW

About the Role:

This position is responsible for ensuring quality extrusion dies are available to meet production demands. The position will also troubleshoot, and problem solve die failures, die removals and new die designs.

 

To be considered for this position you MUST:

  • MUST be a trade qualified Metal Machinist with a minimum of 3 years’ experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of metal and other material properties.
  • Attention to detail with an ability to accurately interpret technical drawings and instructions.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Previous experience diagnosing faults and performing effective operational equipment / machine maintenance.
  • Hands on experience with manual, semi-automated and automated tools, and machines / equipment.
  • Ability to work shift work.

 

PRIMARY ACCOUNATBILITIES

  • Improving repeatability of die performance
  • Ensuring dies are available to run
  • Identifying and analysing die design issues
  • Setting up die trials
  • Making on-going improvement recommendations
  • Responsible for the correction and maintenance of extrusion tooling ensuring that it will produce quality extrusions at the desired rate
  • Monitor production at the press to determine flow inconsistencies and die performance to diagnose proper repair requirements
  • Making corrections to extrusion dies including hand filing, welding and machining
  • Analyse and interpret nose pcs and profile samples to determine the dimensions and correctsion required
  • Other key accountabilities appropriate to the position as determined by the manager of the role.

Applicants must also be prepared to undertake and pass a pre-employment medical inclusive of drug and alcohol test.
